   Guten Morgen! Bevor wir losfahren: Haben Sie sich schon angeschnallt?

   Translation

   Good morning! Before we set off: have you fastened your seat belt?

   Kalle

   Oh, Entschuldigung, jetzt ja. Ich bin noch etwas nervös, das ist erst meine dritte Fahrstunde.

   Translation

   Oh, sorry - now I have. I'm still a bit nervous, it's only my third driving lesson.

3. Driving instructor

   Keine Sorge, ich bin sehr geduldig. Achten Sie an der nächsten Kreuzung bitte auf die Vorfahrt.

   Translation

   Don't worry, I'm very patient. At the next junction, please watch out for the right of way.

   Kalle

   Von rechts kommt ein Auto, also warte ich. Warum wollte ich eigentlich den Führerschein machen?

   Translation

   There's a car coming from the right, so I'll wait. Why did I want to learn to drive, anyway?

5. Driving instructor

   Weil Sie selbst zu den Seen fahren wollen. Aber bitte etwas schneller: Die erlaubte Geschwindigkeit ist hier fünfzig.

   Translation

   Because you want to drive to the lakes yourself. But a bit faster, please: the speed limit here is fifty.

   Kalle

   Im Wald gibt es keinen Verkehr. Hier überholen mich sogar die Radfahrer!

   Translation

   There's no traffic in the forest. Here even the cyclists overtake me!

   Bremsen Sie! Da vorn ist ein Stau. … Gut so. Übrigens müssten wir bald tanken.

   Translation

   Brake! There's a traffic jam ahead. … That's it. By the way, we ought to fill up soon.

   Kalle

   Dort drüben ist eine Tankstelle. Wie viel Benzin brauchen wir denn?

   Translation

   There's a petrol station over there. How much petrol do we need?

9. Driving instructor

   Nur ein bisschen. Und danach parken Sie rückwärts ein, auf dem Parkplatz neben der Tankstelle.

   Translation

   Just a little. And after that you'll reverse into a space in the car park next to the petrol station.

    Rückwärts? Dann würde ich lieber gleich auf die Autobahn fahren!

    Translation

    Backwards? Then I'd rather go straight onto the motorway!

11. Driving instructor

    Die Autobahn kommt später. Wer einen Führerschein will, muss auch parken können. … Na bitte, perfekt!

    Translation

    The motorway comes later. Anyone who wants a driving licence has to be able to park too. … There you go, perfect!

    Wirklich? Dann bin ich ab heute der stolzeste Schüler Ihrer Fahrschule.

    Translation

    Really? Then from today I'm the proudest learner at your driving school.
