   Lotte

   Emil, du willst deinen Kurierdienst verschenken? Habe ich das richtig gehört?

   Translation

   Emil, you want to give your courier service away? Did I hear that right?

2. 

   Emil

   Nicht verschenken! Der Dienst soll gemeinsames Eigentum aller Fahrer werden, gleichberechtigt - wie die Gartenstadt hier in Bohnsdorf.

   Translation

   Not give it away! The service should become the joint property of all the riders, on an equal footing - like the garden city here in Bohnsdorf.

   Lotte

   Dann wäre eine Genossenschaft die passende Rechtsform. Aber ist dir klar, dass du dann nicht mehr allein entscheidest?

   Translation

   Then a cooperative would be the right legal form. But do you realise that you'd no longer decide on your own?

   Emil

   Eben! Ich will Mitbestimmung statt Chefetage. Bei jeder Entscheidung sollen alle mitbestimmen.

   Translation

   Exactly! I want co-determination, not a boardroom. Everyone should have a say in every decision.

   Lotte

   In der Mitgliederversammlung hat jedes Mitglied ein Stimmrecht, ganz gleich, wie viele Anteile es hält.

   Translation

   At the general meeting every member has one vote, no matter how many shares they hold.

   Emil

   Perfekt. Ich bringe die drei Lastenräder ein, und alle anderen beteiligen sich mit einem kleinen Anteil.

   Translation

   Perfect. I'll put in the three cargo bikes, and everyone else takes part with a small share.

   Lotte

   Fehlen noch Satzung und Vorstand. Den Vorstand wählt die Mitgliederversammlung.

   Translation

   That leaves the statutes and the board. The general meeting elects the board.

   Emil

   Bloß nicht mich, ich habe keine Zeit! Und wohin mit dem Gewinn?

   Translation

   Just not me, I've got no time! And where does the profit go?

   Lotte

   Den kann die Genossenschaft am Jahresende an alle ausschütten - Gewinnbeteiligung für alle, sozusagen. Oder ihr steckt ihn in neue Räder.

   Translation

   The cooperative can pay it out to everyone at the end of the year - profit sharing for all, so to speak. Or you put it into new bikes.

    Emil

    Und wer krank ist, wird solidarisch vertreten. Gleichberechtigung und Solidarität!

    Translation

    And anyone who's ill gets covered by the others, in solidarity. Equal rights and solidarity!

    Lotte

    Schöne Worte. Aber nur, wenn sich wirklich alle beteiligen und an einem Strang ziehen.

    Translation

    Fine words. But only if everyone really takes part and pulls together.

    Emil

    Keine Sorge: Zwölf Fahrer wollen die Genossenschaft mit mir gründen. Hilfst du uns bei der Satzung?

    Translation

    Don't worry: twelve riders want to found the cooperative with me. Will you help us with the statutes?
