   Emil

   Entschuldigung! Mein Flug nach Lissabon fällt aus. Was ist denn los?

   Translation

   Excuse me! My flight to Lisbon has been cancelled. What's going on?

2. Airline Employee

   Es tut mir leid. Das Bodenpersonal streikt heute, deshalb mussten viele Flüge kurzfristig gestrichen werden.

   Translation

   I'm sorry. The ground staff are on strike today, so a lot of flights had to be cancelled at short notice.

   Emil

   Ein Streik? Wie ärgerlich! Können Sie mich wenigstens umbuchen? Schnell, bitte!

   Translation

   A strike? How annoying! Can you at least rebook me? Quickly, please!

4. Airline Employee

   Ich kann Ihnen eine Umbuchung auf morgen früh um sieben anbieten. Die neue Bordkarte bekommen Sie per E-Mail.

   Translation

   I can offer you a rebooking for seven tomorrow morning. You'll get the new boarding pass by email.

   Emil

   Und heute Nacht? Ich wohne in Pankow, das ist ewig weit.

   Translation

   And tonight? I live in Pankow, that's miles away.

6. Airline Employee

   Nach der Annullierung steht Ihnen als Fluggast ein Hotelzimmer zu, und auch die Verpflegung wird übernommen.

   Translation

   After a cancellation you're entitled to a hotel room as a passenger, and your meals are covered too.

   Gut. Und eine Entschädigung? Ein Freund meinte, mir stünden bis zu 400 Euro zu.

   Translation

   Good. And compensation? A friend said I'd be entitled to up to 400 euros.

   Bei einem Streik nicht immer. Aber reichen Sie Ihre Beschwerde ruhig online ein. Wenn Sie Anspruch haben, entschädigt die Fluggesellschaft Sie.

   Translation

   Not always in the case of a strike. But do submit your complaint online. If you're entitled, the airline will compensate you.

   Emil

   Mache ich. Aber ich will nicht wochenlang vertröstet werden!

   Translation

   I will. But I don't want to be fobbed off for weeks!

    Translation

    I understand. Keep every receipt - justified expenses will be refunded to you.

    Danke! Dann fotografiere ich ab jetzt alles - sogar mein Sandwich.

    Translation

    Thanks! Then from now on I'll photograph everything - even my sandwich.
