   Bruno, Ihr Manuskript ist wunderbar. Nur der Pflaumenkuchen ist uns im Lektorat dreimal misslungen.

   Translation

   Bruno, your manuscript is wonderful. Only the plum cake has failed on us three times in editing.

   Bruno

   Dreimal? Bei mir noch nie! Woran lag es denn?

   Translation

   Three times? Never once for me! What was the problem, then?

3. Editor

   Im Rezept heißt es „eine Handvoll Mehl“. Nur sind Ihre Pfoten etwas größer als üblich.

   Translation

   The recipe says "a handful of flour". Only your paws are a little bigger than usual.

   Bruno

   Ach so … Dann überarbeite ich das Rezept, diesmal in Gramm.

   Translation

   Oh, I see… Then I'll revise the recipe, in grams this time.

   Und den Eintopf könnten Sie abwandeln - ohne Speck, also vegetarisch.

   Translation

   And you could adapt the stew - without bacon, so vegetarian.

   Bruno

   Schon ausprobiert, mit Räuchertofu. Fast besser als vorher, aber das bleibt unter uns.

   Translation

   Already tried it, with smoked tofu. Almost better than before, but that stays between us.

   Ehrenwort. Das Inhaltsverzeichnis ist fertig, nur Vorwort und Fotos noch nicht.

   Translation

   You have my word. The table of contents is done; only the foreword and the photos aren't yet.

   Das Vorwort ist von Frau Hilde, die Fotos sind von Otti - sofern er rechtzeitig aufwacht.

   Translation

   The foreword is by Frau Hilde, the photos are by Otti - provided he wakes up in time.

   Dann kann das Kochbuch bald in Druck gehen. Der Verlag plant als erste Auflage dreitausend Exemplare.

   Translation

    Three thousand? Who's supposed to buy them apart from Otti, Frida and Frau Hilde?

    Translation
