1. Boss

   Otti, bevor die Bibliotheken morgen den Zwischenstand sehen wollen: Wie sieht es aus? Halten wir den Zeitplan ein?

   Translation

   Otti, before the libraries want to see the progress update tomorrow: how are things looking? Are we keeping to the schedule?

2. 

   Otti

   Ehrlich gesagt, nicht ganz. Beim Arbeitspaket „Ausleihe“ zeichnet sich eine Verzögerung von gut zwei Wochen ab.

   Translation

   To be honest, not quite. A delay of a good two weeks is emerging in the "Lending" work package.

3. Boss

   Zwei Wochen? Das hätte ich gern früher gewusst. War das denn nicht absehbar?

   Translation

   Two weeks? I'd have liked to know that sooner. Wasn't it foreseeable, then?

4. 

   Otti

   Zum Teil schon. Das Risiko stand von Anfang an auf der Liste, nur ist die Schnittstelle der Bibliotheken noch verworrener, als man uns zugesichert hatte.

   Translation

   Partly, yes. The risk was on the list from the start; it's just that the libraries' interface is even more tangled than we'd been assured.

5. Boss

   Immerhin reden Sie nichts schön. Und was schlagen Sie vor? Der erste Meilenstein ist ja vertraglich vereinbart.

   Translation

   At least you're not sugar-coating it. So what do you suggest? The first milestone is set in the contract, after all.

6. 

   Otti

   Ich würde neu priorisieren: Die Suche setzen wir termingerecht um, die Erinnerungsfunktion wandert in den zweiten Meilenstein.

   Translation

   I'd reprioritise: we'll implement the search on schedule, and the reminder feature moves to the second milestone.

7. Boss

   Und die Kapazität? Ihr Team hat doch jetzt schon alle Hände voll zu tun.

   Translation

   And the capacity? Your team already has its hands full as it is.

8. 

   Otti

   Eben. Deshalb delegiere ich die Tests an unsere Werkstudentin und koordiniere die Schnittstelle selbst mit den Bibliotheken.

   Translation

   Exactly. That's why I'm delegating the tests to our working student and coordinating the interface with the libraries myself.

9. Boss

   Haben Sie die Machbarkeit mit allen durchgesprochen, oder ist das bloß Ihre Hoffnung?

   Translation

   Have you talked the feasibility through with everyone, or is that merely your hope?

10. 

    Otti

    Heute früh, mit allen acht. Sofern uns nicht noch ein Server im Stich lässt, ist die Umsetzung zu schaffen.

    Translation

    This morning, with all eight. Unless a server lets us down as well, the implementation is doable.

11. Boss

    Dann präsentieren Sie das morgen genau so. Für Ihre erste Projektleitung bleiben Sie übrigens erstaunlich gelassen.

    Translation

    Then present it exactly like that tomorrow. For your first time leading a project, you're remarkably calm, by the way.

12. 

    Otti

    Der Schein trügt. Aber solange es ab jetzt reibungslos läuft, schlafe ich wenigstens nachts wieder durch.

    Translation

    Appearances are deceptive. But as long as things run smoothly from now on, at least I'll sleep through the night again.
