   Du bist so nachdenklich, Otti. Hast du Heimweh?

   Translation

   You're so thoughtful, Otti. Are you homesick?

2. 

   Otti

   Ein bisschen. Heute vor zwei Jahren war mein Umzug nach Berlin. Ich hatte nur einen Koffer.

   Translation

   A little. Two years ago today I moved to Berlin. I only had one suitcase.

   Frau Hilde

   Ich weiß noch. Du warst so fremd und einsam.

   Translation

   I remember. You were such a stranger, and so lonely.

4. 

   Otti

   Das war ich auch. Ich habe meine Familie und den Wald meiner Kindheit sehr vermisst.

   Translation

   I was. I really missed my family and the forest of my childhood.

   Frau Hilde

   Diese Sehnsucht kenne ich. Und wie ist es heute?

   Translation

   I know that longing. And how is it today?

   Otti

   Heute sehe ich am See lauter vertraute Gesichter. Ich habe mich eingelebt und ein bisschen angepasst.

   Translation

   Today I see nothing but familiar faces by the lake. I've settled in and adapted a little.

   Frau Hilde

   Das braucht Zeit. Manche gewöhnen sich nie ein. Wichtig ist, dass man sich zu Hause fühlt.

   Translation

   That takes time. Some people never settle in. What matters is that you feel at home.

   Otti

   Aber wer bin ich jetzt? Meine Herkunft ist dort, mein Leben hier.

   Translation

   But who am I now? My roots are there, my life is here.

   Frau Hilde

   Warum nicht beides? Auch ein Baum mit tiefen Wurzeln wächst weiter. Deine Identität wird einfach größer.

   Translation

   Why not both? Even a tree with deep roots keeps growing. Your identity simply gets bigger.

    Otti

    Bei Ihnen und den anderen spüre ich Geborgenheit und Zugehörigkeit.

    Translation

    With you and the others I feel safe and that I belong.

    Frau Hilde

    Weil du zu unserer Gemeinschaft gehörst. Ich bin hier tief verwurzelt, aber Heimat ist für mich vor allem ein Gefühl.

    Translation

    Because you belong to our community. I have deep roots here, but for me home is above all a feeling.

    Otti

    Dann bin ich einfach dankbar. Berlin ist meine zweite Heimat.

    Translation

    Then I'm simply grateful. Berlin is my second home.
