  1. Lotte

    Translation

Isn't the exhibition impressive? Nothing but contemporary art from Berlin!

  2. Kalle

Hm.

    Translation

Hmm. I've been standing in front of this painting for five minutes. It's a blue square, Lotte. Is that really art?

  3. Lotte

Natürlich! Das Werk ist abstrakt. Es stellt nichts dar, es soll etwas in dir auslösen.

    Translation

Of course! The work is abstract. It doesn't depict anything, it's meant to stir something in you.

  4. Kalle

    Translation

Mostly it stirs up confusion in me. And hunger.

  5. Lotte

    Translation

Look at it a bit longer. I interpret it as a piece of sky over the Grunewald. Against the white wall it seems almost endless.

  6. Kalle

    Translation

To me it looks like a canvas where someone simply stopped. I prefer the portrait over there.

  7. Lotte

    Translation

That one's expressive too, sure. But it comes from a completely different era - the gold frame gives that away.

  8. Kalle

    Translation

At least I can see something there: a face in the foreground, trees in the background. The blue square just wants to provoke.

  9. Lotte

Vielleicht.

    Translation

Maybe. But the fact that we're arguing about it shows it leaves an impression. In the end, beauty is a matter of taste.

  10. Kalle

Einverstanden.

    Translation

Agreed. By the way, my favourite work of art in this gallery is the sculpture in the courtyard - right next to the café.
