   Oh, toll, Frau Hilde! Wer ist das kleine Mädchen hier?

   Oh, great, Frau Hilde! Who's the little girl here?

   Das bin ich! Ich bin 1950 in Berlin geboren und hier aufgewachsen.

   Translation

   That's me! I was born in Berlin in 1950 and grew up here.

   Wie war Ihre Kindheit damals?

   What was your childhood like back then?

   Früher war alles einfacher. Wir hatten wenig, aber wir haben viel erlebt.

   Everything was simpler in the past. We had little, but we went through a lot.

   Meine Großeltern. Als ich klein war, habe ich jeden Sommer bei ihnen auf dem Land gewohnt.

    An jede Minute! Inzwischen bin ich in Rente. Wenn meine Enkelin kommt, beginne ich die Geschichte immer so: „Es war einmal …“

    Every minute! I'm retired now. When my granddaughter visits, I always begin the story like this: "Once upon a time …"
