   Lotte, kannst du mir helfen? Ich habe heute einen Brief bekommen.

   Translation

   Lotte, can you help me? I got a letter today.

   Lotte

   Klar! Von wem ist er? Von der Bank?

   Translation

   Sure! Who is it from? The bank?

3. 

   Otti

   Nein, vom Vermieter. Er schreibt: „Sehr geehrter Herr Otti …“

   Translation

   No, from the landlord. He writes: "Dear Mr Otti …"

   Lotte

   Oh, das klingt wichtig. Lies weiter! Was will er?

   Translation

   Oh, that sounds important. Read on! What does he want?

   Otti

   „Die Miete für Oktober ist noch nicht auf unserem Konto.“ Aber ich habe sie doch bezahlt!

   Translation

   "The rent for October is not in our account yet." But I did pay it!

   Lotte

   Bist du sicher? Schau mal auf dein Konto bei der Bank.

   Translation

   Are you sure? Have a look at your bank account.

   Otti

   Oh nein … Ich habe ein falsches Datum geschrieben. Das Geld kommt erst am Freitag.

   Translation

   Oh no … I wrote the wrong date. The money only arrives on Friday.

   Lotte

   Gibt es eine Frist? Steht das im Brief?

   Translation

   Is there a deadline? Does the letter say?

   Otti

   Ja: „Bitte zahlen Sie bis zum 15. Oktober.“ Dann kommen „Mit freundlichen Grüßen“ und seine Unterschrift.

   Translation

   Yes: "Please pay by 15 October." Then "Kind regards" and his signature.

    Dann ist alles gut, weil das Geld vorher ankommt. Schreib ihm trotzdem eine kurze Antwort.

    Translation

    Then everything's fine, because the money arrives before that. Still, write him a short reply.

    Gute Idee. Muss ich die Antwort unterschreiben?

    Translation

    Good idea. Do I have to sign the reply?

    Translation

    Yes, bottom left. And next time you read your post straight away, okay?
