   Lotte

   Frau Hilde, schön, dass Sie dabei sind! Die Mäntel geben wir hier an der Garderobe ab.

   Translation

   Frau Hilde, how nice that you're here! We leave our coats here at the cloakroom.

   Frau Hilde

   Danke, Lotte. Ich war schon lange nicht mehr bei einer Premiere.

   Translation

   Thank you, Lotte. I haven't been to a premiere for a long time.

   Lotte

   Unsere Plätze sind in Reihe sieben, ganz nah an der Bühne.

   Translation

   Our seats are in row seven, very close to the stage.

   Frau Hilde

   Wunderbar! Von dort sehe ich die Schauspieler ganz genau.

   Translation

   Wonderful! From there I'll see the actors really well.

   Lotte

   Jetzt ist Pause. Wie gefällt Ihnen das Stück bis jetzt?

   Translation

   It's the interval now. How do you like the play so far?

   Frau Hilde

   Was für eine beeindruckende Aufführung! Die Schauspielerin, die die Königin spielt, ist ausgezeichnet.

   Translation

   What an impressive production! The actress playing the queen is excellent.

   Lotte

   Ja! Nur die Handlung verstehe ich noch nicht ganz.

   Translation

   Yes! It's just the plot I don't quite understand yet.

   Frau Hilde

   Das wird bestimmt später klar. Als ich jung war, stand ich übrigens selbst auf der Bühne.

   Translation

   I'm sure it'll become clear later. By the way, when I was young, I was on the stage myself.

   Lotte

   Wirklich? Welche Rolle hatten Sie denn?

   Translation

   Really? What part did you play?

    Frau Hilde

    Ich war die Julia! Die Zeitung hat mich damals kritisiert, aber das Publikum war begeistert.

    Translation

    I was Juliet! The newspaper criticised me back then, but the audience was thrilled.

    Lotte

    Was für ein Applaus! So eine Vorstellung hat mich lange nicht mehr so beeindruckt.

    Translation

    What applause! It's been a long time since a performance impressed me this much.

    Frau Hilde

    Mich auch nicht, Lotte. Gehen wir bald wieder zusammen ins Theater?

    Translation

    Nor me, Lotte. Shall we go to the theatre together again soon?
