1. Female flatmate

   Bruno, der ganze Abwasch von gestern Abend ist von dir! Wer kocht denn um Mitternacht noch Spaghetti?

   Translation

   Bruno, all the washing-up from last night is yours! Who cooks spaghetti at midnight?

2. 

   Bruno

   Ich hatte eben Hunger. Ich wollte heute abwaschen, ehrlich - nur eben nicht so früh.

   Translation

   I was hungry, that's all. I was going to do the dishes today, honestly - just not so early.

3. Male flatmate

   So geht das nicht. In einer Wohngemeinschaft mit vier Leuten braucht der Haushalt klare Regeln.

   Translation

   That won't do. In a flat share of four, the housework needs clear rules.

4. Female flatmate

   Deshalb habe ich einen Putzplan geschrieben. Jede Woche wechseln wir uns ab: Abwasch, Staubsaugen, Bad und Müll, schön der Reihe nach.

   Translation

   That's why I've written a cleaning rota. Every week we take turns: dishes, hoovering, bathroom and rubbish, one after the other.

   Bruno

   Und wenn ich für alle koche? Dann wäre es doch gerecht, wenn die anderen abwaschen.

   Translation

   And what if I cook for everyone? Then it would only be fair if the others did the dishes.

6. Male flatmate

   Dann kochst du jeden Tag, und wir waschen jeden Tag deine riesigen Töpfe ab. Das fände ich ungerecht.

   Translation

   Then you'd cook every day, and every day we'd wash your enormous pots. I'd find that unfair.

   Bruno

   Hm, da hast du recht. Und der Staubsauger? Ehrlich gesagt habe ich Angst vor dem Ding, er ist so laut.

   Translation

   Hm, you've got a point. And the hoover? To be honest, I'm scared of that thing, it's so loud.

8. Female flatmate

   Keine Sorge, in deiner ersten Woche bist du nur für den Abwasch zuständig. Aber ordentlich, bitte!

   Translation

   Don't worry, in your first week you're only in charge of the washing-up. But do it properly, please!

   Bruno

   Abgemacht. Ich weiß, ich bin etwas unordentlich, aber ich gebe mir Mühe.

   Translation

   Deal. I know I'm a bit messy, but I'll make an effort.

10. Male flatmate

    Gut, dann haben wir uns geeinigt. Ab morgen wird abwechselnd geputzt!

    Translation

    Good, then we've agreed. From tomorrow we clean in turns!

    Bruno

    Super! Und heute Abend koche ich für alle meine Mitbewohner.

    Translation

    Great! And tonight I'll cook for all my flatmates.

    Lieb von dir, Bruno. Aber den Abwasch machst dann du!

    Translation

    That's sweet of you, Bruno. But then you're doing the washing-up!
