   Otti

   Hallo, Lotte! Bist du schon wieder in der Bibliothek? Es ist doch fast zehn!

   Translation

   Hi, Lotte! Are you in the library again? It's nearly ten!

2. 

   Lotte

   Ja, das Semester ist bald vorbei, und nächste Woche habe ich drei Prüfungen. Ohne gründliche Vorbereitung geht das nicht.

   Translation

   Yes, the semester's nearly over, and next week I have three exams. That won't work without thorough preparation.

   Otti

   Sind das alles deine Notizen? Die sind ja höher als ich!

   Translation

   Are these all your notes? They're taller than me!

   Lotte

   Das sind meine Notizen aus den Vorlesungen. Ich lerne sie auswendig, damit ich in der Prüfung nichts vergesse.

   Translation

   They're my notes from the lectures. I'm learning them by heart so that I don't forget anything in the exam.

   Otti

   Alles auswendig? Ich könnte mich nicht so lange konzentrieren, ich würde sofort einschlafen.

   Translation

   All of it by heart? I couldn't concentrate for that long - I'd fall asleep at once.

   Lotte

   Ich darf nicht durchfallen, sonst verliere ich mein Stipendium. Außerdem muss ich noch eine Hausarbeit für das Seminar schreiben.

   Translation

   I mustn't fail, or I'll lose my scholarship. And I still have to write a term paper for the seminar.

   Otti

   Du bist die gründlichste Studentin der ganzen Universität. Mit deinem Wissen würdest du sogar fünf Prüfungen bestehen!

   Translation

   You're the most thorough student in the whole university. With your knowledge you'd pass even five exams!

   Lotte

   Danke, Otti. Am schwierigsten ist aber das Referat, das ich am Montag halte.

   Translation

   Thanks, Otti. But the hardest part is the presentation I'm giving on Monday.

   Otti

   Dann halte es doch vor mir! Ich höre sehr aufmerksam zu.

   Translation

   Then give it to me! I'll listen very attentively.

    Lotte

    Wirklich? Das wäre toll. Aber bitte schlaf nicht ein!

    Translation

    Really? That would be great. But please don't fall asleep!

    Otti

    Hm? … Ich habe nur die Augen zugemacht, damit ich mich besser konzentrieren kann.

    Translation

    Hm? … I only closed my eyes so that I could concentrate better.

    Lotte

    Ach, Otti! Gut, dass du nicht in meinem Seminar sitzt.

    Translation

    Oh, Otti! Good thing you're not in my seminar.
