   Hallo Otti, schön, dass du da bist! Was ist das denn?

   Translation

   Hi Otti, nice that you're here! What's that, then?

   Otti

   Ein alter Toaster, der nicht mehr funktioniert. Wird so etwas hier repariert?

   Translation

   An old toaster that doesn't work any more. Do you repair things like that here?

3. 

   Frida

   Klar! Jeden Samstag helfen hier Leute aus der Nachbarschaft, alle ehrenamtlich.

   Translation

   Sure! Every Saturday people from the neighbourhood help here, all as volunteers.

   Otti

   Und was kostet das?

   Translation

   And how much does it cost?

   Frida

   Nichts. Wer möchte, gibt eine kleine Spende für den Kaffee.

   Translation

   Nothing. Anyone who wants to gives a small donation for the coffee.

   Otti

   Toll. Und warum engagierst du dich hier? Ein Ehrenamt kostet doch viel Zeit.

   Translation

   Great. And why do you get involved here? Volunteer work takes a lot of time, doesn't it?

   Frida

   Weil eine Gemeinschaft oft mehr kann als jede große Organisation. Hier unterstützen sich alle gegenseitig.

   Translation

   Because a community can often do more than any big organisation. Here everyone supports each other.

   Otti

   Ich würde mich auch gern beteiligen. Aber ich kann nichts reparieren, nur gut schlafen.

   Translation

   I'd like to take part too. But I can't repair anything, I can only sleep well.

   Frida

   Jede Hilfe ist nützlich! Du könntest freiwillig die Tassen spülen, das ist auch Unterstützung.

   Translation

   All help is useful! You could volunteer to wash the cups, that's support too.

    Otti

    Einverstanden. Und der Toaster?

    Translation

    Deal. And the toaster?

    Fertig, das Kabel war nur locker! Siehst du, hier setzen sich alle ein, so gut sie können.

    Translation

    Done, the cable was just loose! You see, here everyone does their bit as best they can.

    Danke! Dann spüle ich jetzt die Tassen - für eine bessere Gesellschaft!

    Translation

    Thanks! Then I'll wash the cups now - for a better society!
